What is adaptive therapeutic-style yoga?

Adaptive therapeutic-style yoga takes the poses and principles of a traditional practice and shapes them around your body — your health history, injuries, and previous yoga experience. The goal is to support you in accessing the benefits of yoga exactly where you are.   

A few things that shape the practice: 

  • Props and modifications — chairs, blocks, straps, blankets, and bolsters are used freely to support the body and reduce strain.

  • Accessible to All-Levels— focus on adapting poses to meet each student where they are. Beginner to advanced levels can gain flexibility, strength, and mobility. 

  • Breath and mindfulness — pranayama and breathwork are woven throughout to calm and regulate the nervous system.

My Approach

I believe yoga should support your life—not ask you to fit into a prescribed practice.

My own yoga journey has evolved alongside experiences with hypermobility, back pain, digestive challenges, and the changing needs that come with different stages of life. Through that experience, I've learned that healing isn't about achieving the perfect pose—it's about learning to listen to the body and responding with care.

That's why I use adaptive therapeutic style yoga with students in private sessions for singles, duos, and trios. This smaller setting allows each person to receive individualized guidance, explore their own goals, and develop a deeper understanding of what their body needs to move, feel, and live well. 

Together, we'll create a practice that weaves the traditional benefits of yoga with where you are to supports where you want to go.

Every session is customized to your unique needs and may include:

  • Traditional Hatha Yoga practices adapted for your body
  • Therapeutic movement and mindful mobility
  • Functional strength and balance work
  • Breathwork and nervous system regulation
  • Gentle restorative poses for nervous system regulation
  • Personalized guidance and home practices to support your progress between sessions

Private sessions are held in my peaceful in-home yoga studio, intentionally designed to be a calm, welcoming space where you can fully settle into your practice.
